So, here's the cake! It was fun to make, but I will be making some changes if I decide to make it again. I will NOT be using Pillsbury "Supreme Moist" cake mix. It had a hard time handling the weight of the frosting. Other than that, it held up pretty well. It was fun to decorate! For the railing on the bow, I used "Pirouette" Rolled Waffers. For the cannons, I used Rolos and stuck the candles through them. Since Tyler is 6, I put 3 on each side. For the cannon balls, I used Whoppers, and the "gold" was golden wrapped Rolos. The water was died coconut, and the sand was graham cracker crumbs. The boys had some little pirate guys and a treasure box we used too. Whatta ya think, Matey?
And this is what happens when 6 year old pirates get a hold of it:

That is awesome! Your boys are so lucky to have a mom that can make such creative cakes! :)
Very neat! I hope I can make some creative cakes for Zach. It seems more fun to make them rather than buy them.
Love the cake! It looks so great. I'm sure the boys all loved it. What a good mom you are!
You actually let the boys EAT that cake? It's like fine china...so special, you don't want to actually use it. :)
I'm impressed! I don't even know how I'd begin to make that. I attempted a dinosaur one year, and it was very, very sad.
