Happy Father's Day Brady

Family Fun magazine has an art contest in this month's issue and the boys wanted to enter. They drew pictures about fun things they like to do with their dad and wrote a little story. Enjoy!

"The Airplane
By: Ashton Butterfield

My dad flies remote control airplanes. We go to where the school busses park. We get the airplane ready and then he flies it. My dad can do really cool tricks with his plane and he flies it low to the ground and tries to scare us, but it never scares me. One time, my dad took his plane to my school for show and tell and he flew it outside so all my friends can see it. They all thought it was fun. I’m going to be like my dad and fly remote control airplanes too! THE END"

"My Dad is the Best Dad in the Whole Wide World
By: Tyler Butterfield

My favorite thing to do with my dad is to ride in his black Solstice. I like it when he takes off the top and goes really fast. Do you know why he has to have a black Solstice? It is because that he looks cool! And he goes so fast and beats all the other cars. Sometimes my dad and me see paragliders jump off the mountain and fly with the paraglider. My dad is going to do that someday and he’s going take me with him. My dad can fly real planes, but not the big ones that fly to New York or Pennsylvania; just the little ones that fly close to the house and go upside down, and he’s going to take me with him too."

Many of you may not know this, but Brady has his private pilots license. He got it back in 97 when he was 17. Well, lately he's been saying how cool it would be to fly again. So, the boys and I surprised him with an instructed flight at the Sky Park Airport in Bountiful. We drove him blindfolded to the airport and when he uncovered his eyes, he had the biggest smile on his face! =) I love to see him so happy! The boys said "Happy Father's Day Daddy!" and I think this will be the best one yet. The plane was only a four seater, so Ashton and Tyler went with, while Loc and I watched. His instructor was a really cool guy named Luke. Brady got to "man" the entire flight...which he did very well, I might add. He did about 3 take offs and landings which he said were really smooth. Luke said he did very well for not flying in 11 years. He was told it would take only about 5 hours for him to get current again. So, we'll see what happens. Here are some pics of the fun evening:

This video isn't the best, but you get the idea:

I bought Brian, uh...a few shirts...some shorts. Hmmmmm, I may need to rethink my gift-giving after reading about what you gave your husband. That's awesome!
