So...I love strawberries. Love 'em, love 'em, LOVE THEM!!! We got strawberry starts a couple years ago, and last year we pulled all the flowers off so the fruit would be big this year. And so I've been waiting and waiting for the little suckers to be ripe enough to pick. 
Lochlin and I went out there to pick them last week, and to our TOTAL disappointment, all the red berries had slash marks in them. I did a search online to figure out what it could be, and found out that most likely it's the birds enjoying my strawberries. MY STRAWBERRIES!!! So, we got this owl to scare off the birds. He is now my BFF. He is very good at his job...just sitting there with those huge eyes. 
Every morning, Loc and I go out there and pick all the pretty red ones. It's the first thing he asks to do. And then, of course he eats them all!
This morning we picked a whole quart! 
I was so excited, so I went inside and made a beautiful fresh strawberry pie. It's in the fridge chillin' till dinner. I can't wait!
And, of course I'm enjoying the rest of our garden. I seriously have so much fun taking care of it. It's a lot of work, but it's so worth it! We've been enjoying the spinach, lettuce and radishes so far. Everything else is doing really well though. I can't wait to be able to eat all the yummy veggies!

YUM! We snacked on our strawberries yesterday and they were so yummy! I haven't had problems with birds {knock on wood} but I have problems with pill bugs making perfect little holes in mine. Yours look great! What variety do you have?
We have had problems with Quail so we net our strawberry patch. It has worked like a charm for the past 3 years.
