Ashton's day started with breakfast in bed. This is a tradition we started a few years ago. Now, we all get breakfast in bed on our birthdays. I had to wake him up this morning though. He's such a handsom little guy....even when he's sleepy!
(LOL!!! I never post the silly things my kids say, but I have to post this: Ashton just came upstairs and saw me posting these pictures. He goes, "Mom!!! my armpit and my little nibble is showing!" Yep...he said nibble, not nipple! Too funny!)
For lunch, we met at the Training Table with Grandma and Grandpa Butterfield and Mel and her kids. Ashton got a Transformer mask and gun that he's been wanting. He loves them!
This is my beautiful neice. She's so adorable!
And here's my nephew, Roc, munchin' on a fry.
The real party started at 4 at the Farmington Pool. We had 6 boys show up, and they had a blast swimming and being boys . I hung out with Lochlin, Mel, Roc, and Bree in the shallow end. It was a great day for swimming. Then, we went back to our house, had pizza, and watched a little Spongebob while I finished dressing Spongebob(the cake).
Isn't he handsome? Too bad he had to get eaten....
Then, Ashton opened up his presents. He loved EVERYTHING! He's got great friends. His favorite gifts were a nerf gun he's been wanting for a while and an Indiana Jones LEGO plane. The boys were up late building LEGO's.
After that, we played a few games. For the first game, we blew up balloons and released them. Whoever's balloon was the closest to the target (Spongebob's face) was the winner. Josh won that one. He only put a couple puffs of air in his balloon....clever kid!
This next game was kinda like hot potato, but we used a jellyfish(balloon). I played some music and the boys tossed the balloon around. Whoever was last to touch the jellyfish when the music stopped got stung and was "out". That game was a big hit.
Then we had a sponge relay. There were two teams and they had to soak their sponges, run to a cup, and wring out the sponge. The team who filled thier cup first won.
They eventually got sick of playing games and decided to have a nerf gun war. I was the target of choice. I did get a group shot of them before they all shot me.
I think they had a good time. I love birthday parties!

How fun, Nicole!!! You are the best mommie ever!! I love your cake! You are so talented! I'm still in shock that he's 8! Where has the time gone?! We really need to try and get together!
NO WAY is he 8!!!! That is just crazy! He is looking like a young man now! :)
Cute party, Nicole, and I'm seriously impressed with the cake!
Looks like so much fun!! Birthdays are great!!
Nicole, Ashton's 8! I still remember cramming into the dressing room at Motherhood Maternity because you were too embarrassed to walk out of the room to show me your maternity swimsuit. There was hardly room in there for me because your belly (Ashton) was sticking out so far! (sorry if that was TMI) He'll be taller than you before long. Congrats Ashton! You're amazing as usual, Nicole! Love ya girl!
You are one talented girl!!! The cake turned out great and it looks like the party was a big success!
